In January 1968, Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Three, June Carter, Carl Perkins, and the Statler Brothers played a historic concert at California’s Folsom Prison. 40 years later, on January 23rd, 2008, Strictly Cash commemorated this concert by playing at Mountjoy Prison, Dublin, Ireland. As with the songs Folsom Prison Blues and San Quentin, a highlight of the Strictly Cash show was when they performed a song specially written by Finbarr for the occasion, called simply “Mountjoy”.

In a world of steel and stone

In a cage I call my home

On a cold hard slab of concrete where I lie

Since I heard them close that gate

All I ever do is hate

Every moment that I spend here In Mountjoy
